BISF is hosting its annual fall debate between the Young Democrats and College Republicans. Join us in the International Conference Facility of the Baker Institute to see our debaters discuss an important current policy topic! Pizza will be served at 6:30 pm, and the debate will start at 7 pm.

Civic Duty will have Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars in the residential colleges during lunch each week day this week to register voters.
You can also register to vote in Fondren Library this wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday and next monday, October 8, between 2-4.
Remember, October 9 is the deadline to register to vote in Texas!
Who: anyone who would like to register to vote in Harris County or pledge vote in the 2018 midterm elections
What: Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars will be on hand to register new Harris County voters. Already registered to vote in Harris County or in your home state? Come out and complete a voter pledge, receive an "I Pledged to Vote" sticker, get your photo taken alongside your reason for voting in this election, and enjoy banh mi sandwiches from Hughies Vietnamese Grille.

In order to encourage voter participation, Texas election law provides for County Voter Registrars to designate individuals to assist in the registration of eligible persons to vote. These individuals are appointed as Volunteer Deputy Registrars and operate under state rules and the supervision of the County Voter Registrar. Who: open to all Houston youth
What: a conference to build momentum for youth voter participation in the 2018 midterm elections and to build a civic engagement community across Houston college and university campuses. The day will include voter registration, voter pledges, speakers who are experts in youth empowerment and voting trends, and breakout sessions for attending schools to strategize GOTV efforts for their respective campuses.
Where: McMurtry and Duncan Colleges
When: September 15, 2018, 9:00am-4:00 pm
Who: anyone trained as a Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar (VDVR) and/or anyone who leans Democratic
What: register voters, identify likely Democratic voters, recruit volunteers, distribute candidate information, inform residents of voting dates and locations (led by Melody Tan, Rice Ph.D. Candidate, bioengineering)
Where: Precint 579 (Galleria Area); meeting at the Chipotle at 5176 Richmond
When: Sunday, September 2, 4-7pm (and every Sunday)
